Physical Education Curriculum
Physical Education (PE) is for children from junior infants to sixth class. The curriculum contributes to children’s overall development by helping them to lead full, active and healthy lives.

Our school concentrates on a particular PE curriculum strand each month as well as a fundamental movement skill also.

We ensure that 60 minutes of P.E. is provided to each class for P.E. weekly.

The PE curriculum provides a balanced range of activities for children through the six strands:

  • Athletics
  • Dance
  • Gymnastics
  • Games
  • Outdoor and adventure activities
  • Aquatics

The fundamental movement skills are:

  • Throwing
  • Catching
  • Running
  • Balancing
  • Coordination
  • Agility

We are very lucky in Scoil Naomh Íosef that we have a variety of facilities available for Physical Education. Our school hall and the spacious yard and green area at the back of the school.
