The children in 5th and 6th class have been very busy recently. We are enjoying our Monday Meet Up with First and Second Class as part of our Wellbeing actions in school. We have been playing board games, reading to First and Second and embracing our inner engineers building with the boys and girls in First and Second Class also.
We started out with some simple paper weaving in Art but we have progressed onto cup weaving. This was tricky but with some serious concentration we fell into the rhythm of it and created lovely stationery holders.
We have concluded our block of GAA sessions. We developed our ball handling skills, knowledge of the rules and tactics with both the big and small ball through various drills and activities.
The children are really enjoying their Gymnastics sessions. Many of the children are now very confident in forward rolls, backward rolls, cart-wheels and other tumbles.
In History, we have been learning about the 1916 Rising and not only the events in Dublin but also the local links in West Limerick and Dromcollogher. We are also enjoying reading “The Guns of Easter” by Gerard Whelan.
