The New Primary Maths Curriculum provides wonderful opportunities for us to engage in challenging, exciting, hands on , active and practical maths on an ongoing basis. We love all the different activities that we are participating in within our classrooms. However, Maths Week really provides opportunities for us to challenge our thinking and to work collaboratively to problem solve. All children across the school participated in various maths week activities including maths trails, maths games, maths challenges and 5th and 6th class participated in a maths quiz with 2,000 other children around the country. What an experience! They also proved Pythagoras Theorem. The Jumping Numbers Challenge was proving to be frustrating but the children stuck with and collaboratively solved the puzzle.
