In Scoil Naomh Iosef we are proud to call ourselves a Green School. We have a long running commitment to the An Taisce Green Schools programme. We are currently working towards our ninth green flag. The theme is the Global Citizenship Travel.
Our committee are working together with school co-ordinator Mr. Murphy to promote Walking, Park ‘n’ Stride and Car Pooling on the journey to and from school. There are many benefits to sustainable transport and leaving the car behind. For example, reducing congestion and air pollution, better physical and mental health, building student’s awareness skills and so much more. Global Citizenship looks at linking travel with the Sustainable Development Goals to further students’ understating of the wider effects of travel. We are doing our bit at a local level to help global change.
Our school garden is a key part of our school grounds and pupils help to maintain it and use it to grow their own vegetables as well as planting seeds and flowers.
