We went on a local history walk this week to the site of the Cinema Fire of 1926. We visited the Memorial library and examined some of the photographs and newspaper articles from the time. We walked around the rear of the building to where a cross on the wall marks the spot where many of the 48 victims of the disaster died. We then visited the grave in the churchyard and looked at the names on the large Celtic Cross that stands over the grave.
