5th and 6th class were very lucky on Monday 24th May. We attended a webinar with an interview with Irish Jockey, Rachael Blackmore. Rachael has had an extremely successful year, becoming the first ever female jockey to win the Grand National, among other achievements. The interview was part of a series set up by Tralee Education Centre called, Inspiring Ireland, Inspiring Students – An Interview series with Influential Irish people. It was viewed by primary and secondary students and classes throughout the country.
Rachael answered questions about her time in school, her love for horses and gave the children and young adults watching, some great advice about starting secondary school and college, being kind to others, looking out for each other and being there for our friends. It was a lovely interview which allowed the children to hear about not only Rachael’s love for horses and her career but also she spoke to the children about her life, friends and ‘falling’ in life not just on the track. She encouraged the children to always do their best, to look out for one another and to always be kind to one another.
