Well done to all the classes that participated in the Active School’s Break challenge over the last month. Every day the classes took a break from their school work and did a dance, run, or skip.
Congratulations to 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th classes for taking on the “Run Around Ireland” and “Climb the Heights” challenges. The running challenge was a huge success and the classes ran the equivalent of running from Dromcollogher to various places around the country, including Kilkenny Castle (156km) and Hook Head Lighthouse in Wexford, which is 191km away!
The skipping challenge was very popular and for every skip the children counted this as climbing 1m. When the skips of the class were combined, they had climbed numerous peaks across Europe, such as Ben Nevis in the U.K. (1,345m) and Mount Olympus in Greece (2,918m).
The younger classes really enjoyed the breaks and danced to different songs daily. Well done to all the classes and their teachers for taking the time to take part in these fun Active Breaks.
