On December 14th All Ireland Winning Limerick Hurler, Seamus Flanagan , visited our school with the Liam Mc Carthy Cup. Seamus (Feohanagh/ Castlemahon GAA) and a past pupil of Broadford N.S. was joined on the day by Noel Hartigan and GAA County Board Chairman, John Cregan. John is a past pupil of our school and also Chairman of our Board of Management. The boys and girls were thrilled to get their hands on the cup and we were also joined by other members of the community who greatly appreciated the visit following a long 45 year wait.
Seamus must be credited for the time he gave to chat with each child and his motivating words for the children. Mr. Murphy recalled when Scoil Naomh Iosef met Seamus in various schools games not all that long ago!! Seamus always stood out for his skill, dedication and good sportsmanship. Mr. Murphy even embraced his Limerick side for the day, donning a Limerick jersey!
