2016 marks 100 years since the 1916 Rising. There are many activities planned to commemorate this historic event. Our commemorative events kicked off on October 16th when we were visited by Captain Rory O’ Donovan and Private Paul Hickey. These representatives from the Defence Forces presented our school with our national colours, a copy of the protocol for our national flag and also a copy of the Proclamation. We were joined on the day by Canon Ambrose , former principal David Browne, parents and family from our school community. We were delighted the James Wall was able to join us for this ceremony as James’ father was a volunteer at the time of the Rising. Here are some photographs of the occasion.
