Fifth and Sixth class boys and girls are really enthralled in their class novel “Under the Hawthorn Tree.” The children have previously studied the famine and are making lots of connections between their prior knowledge and events in the story to further deepen their awareness and understanding of this time in Irish history. As part of our body of work on the novel, the children are looking at Character Traits. The children worked collaboratively to create these beautiful representations of Eily, one of the main characters in the book.
