Catholic Schools Week 2019

This week is Catholic’s Schools week and we have been celebrating all that it means to be a Catholic School.  We are very proud to be one! Grandparents Day is always the highlight of the week. We were delighted that Fr. O’ Dea was able to join us on Thursday, January 31st, to celebrate Grandparents Day with a prayer service.  The children sang and read beautifully.  3rd and 4th class also prepared St. Brigid’s Crosses which Fr. O’ Dea blessed.  Our Guests of Honour enjoyed visiting the classrooms, admiring the children’s art work and finally relaxing in the halla with a well deserved cupán tae.

We really enjoy when our Grandparents come to visit!! On Tuesday, Daniel and Lucy’s Nana visited the school and spoke to the boys and girls about her climb to Everest Base Camp.  It was really interesting!! She told us that it was her Grandfather that sparked her desire to visit Mount Everest when she was a child.  We would like to extend an open invitation to any Grandparents or older members of the community who would like to speak to the boys and girls.  It would be very interesting to hear about Dromcollogher when they were growing up, school when they were younger, working on the farm as a child etc. If you think you might know somebody who would be interested please let the office know.
